An exhibition by Mylène Michaud
At Materia from January 6 to February 5, 2017
Opening on January 6, from 5 p.m.
Commented visit on January 11, noon to 1 p.m.

Québec City, December 27, 2016 – As of January 6, Materia is welcoming the works of Québec City fabric artist Mylène Michaud. The opening of her exhibition D’un point à l’autre will be on Friday, January 6, 2017, at 5 p.m.

D’un point à l’autre stems from a desire to update the knitting technique. Developed around the encounter between knitting stitch techniques and the new technologies, the exhibition features works created from web satellite images. The stitch is approached as a 1:1 ratio pixel, producing gigantic knitting pieces that emphasize the image pixelation and the fabric’s networked structure.

At the junction of fine crafts and visual arts, Mylène Michaud’s exhibition gives Materia an opportunity to showcase an artist whose technical mastery challenges our relation to space and time in the digital era.
