An exhibition by Jenny Paquet at Centre MATERIA
From February 12 to March 27, 2016
Opening on Friday, February 12, from 5 p.m.
As of February 12, Centre MATERIA is welcoming the works of ceramist Jenny Paquet. You are invited to the opening of her exhibition on Friday, February 12, from 5 p.m.
Through an accumulation of ceramic pieces reproducing the disposable objects of our daily lives, Jenny Paquet questions our relation to nature and to matter. She mixes her clay objects with other materials to produce installations that verge on theatrical, intending to condemn certain behaviours and feed the visitors’ reflections. Objet is about claims made with the patience and persistence of the craftsperson.
On the borderline between contemporary art and crafts, Jenny Paquet’s exhibition is an opportunity for MATERIA to showcase an artist who uses her technical mastery over matter to convey a message with a humanitarian and an environmental impact.
Jenny Paquet was already denouncing overconsumption in Machination, the exhibition featuring works by the Maison des métiers d’art de Québec’s graduates in 2012. Since then, she has perfected her technique through residencies and complementary training, and set up her studio in Saint-Raymond. Jenny Paquet is actively involved in the Portneuf region. Her exhibition Objet : L’Objet. has been showed in the natural setting of Saint-Raymond’s Vallée-du-Bras-du-Nord in the summer of 2015
