Retrospective exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of l’École de joaillerie de Montréal
From July 3 to August 16, 2015
Opening on July 3 from 5PM
As of July 3, Centre MATERIA, in collaboration with l’École de joaillerie de Montréal, will be presenting the exhibition 40 ans de passion, de création et de formation. On a celebration note, the opening will be held on Friday, July 3, at 5 p.m.
This year, Centre MATERIA will exceptionally host a summer exhibition to mark its 15th anniversary. To have even more reasons to celebrate, MATERIA is partnering up with l’École de joaillerie de Montréal to present the retrospective exhibition designed to highlight the 40th anniversary of its foundation.
The exhibition 40 ans de passion, de création et de formation takes a look at the evolution of jewellery in Quebec through the achievements of the founders, teachers and students of one of the most important jewellery training centers in the province. In this 3-part visit, curator Catherine Sheedy, jeweller and educator from Lévis, showcases the pieces of 52 artists, selected by a jury and characterized by their timeless, innovative craftsmanship.
With this exhibition, Centre MATERIA wishes to show the extent of the practice of jewellery in the province of Quebec. L’École de joaillerie de Montréal, with a rich history and diversified teachings, has greatly contributed to the evolution of jewellery and to its recognition as an artistic practice in its own right.
